All three lanes now open after M5 crash
UPDATE ALL three lanes on M5 northbound have now reopened following an incident involving a lorry this morning.
CRASH: The lorry was righted but traffic suffered for most of the day (27078505)
Police were called the scene between junctions 8 and 7, near Strensham services, at 7.23am to reports of an overturned lorry..
The HGV and trailer it was pulling blocked the slip road into Strensham services along with lanes one and two.
Crews worked to right the lorry which was full of steel barrels.
The driver of the lorry was taken to hospital with minor injuries. Lanes one and two were closed from 9am with queues stretching back six miles to junction 9.
Drivers suffered two-hour tailbacks when congestion was at its peak.
A spokesperson for the Highways Agency said recovery has been ongoing since 9am and the trailer has been righted followed by the HGV.
She said: “Both lanes reopened at 3.10pm and work is continuing on the dedicated slip road to Stensham services where work is required on resurfacing due to an oil spill. “Now we have got three lanes back, congestion is clearing quite quickly.”
