AN organisation that helps children and young people with disabilities has received help from a local business centre after a fund raising drive.

Basepoint Evesham has presented Malvern Special Families with a cheque for £1,580, after match funding proceeds raised at various events over the past two months, including a 100-mile bike ride and a cake sale.

Malvern Special Families specialise in providing safe, stimulating and fun social opportunities for children and young people with disabilities. The charity was started 26 years ago by a group of parents who had children with special needs, and now offers support to more than 100 families in the Malvern Hills and Worcester areas.

Elaine Beaumont, centre manager at Basepoint Evesham, said: "The money has been used to purchase hi-visibility vests for the children at Malvern Special Families to keep them safe during outings. It’s an incredible feeling being able to give back to a local charity that does so much within the community.”

Sue Robinson, play leader at Malvern Special Families, added: "The vests look great, and when we go out it really helps to show that we all belong together."

Basepoint Business Centres, which specialise in the development and operation of flexible business, innovation and enterprise centres, is owned by the ACT Foundation, a leading UK grant-making charity, dedicated to improving the quality of life of those in need. As such, each centre is dedicated to fundraising for a selected charity and the ACT Foundation match funds any money raised by the chosen charity, up to the value of £10,000 per centre.
