AN outdoor clothing specialist has helped to collect more than 9,000 donated items of clothing in a nationwide campaign to aid community groups.

Rohan in Worcester's Broad Street has been running its Gift Your Gear appeal since the beginning of September. The initiative aims to enable people to benefit from life changing experiences in the great outdoors, regardless of their circumstances, by providing them with suitable outdoor gear.

As a result of the campaign, Rohan Worcester was able to deliver a number of boxes to the local charity My Big Adventure. who were extremely grateful for the local community’s generosity.

Manager Nigel Mee said: "We’ve been encouraging people to bring any unwanted, but usable, outdoor trousers, jackets and fleeces into the shop. These items will now be donated to local community organisations, youth groups and charities for outdoor projects. The last time we ran Gift Your Gear we got a fantastic response with nearly 7,000 garments being donated to our stores nationwide so it’s great to beat that figure by almost 25 per cent this year. Our customers have been incredibly generous and some of the items being donated have great stories and histories attached to them or have travelled miles across the globe.”
