TWO Worcestershire building projects are in line for glory at the Master Builder of the Year Awards in London next month.

Both won the Midland regional heats. The new Malvern fire station, the work of Spectus Construction Ltd of Pershore took the best large renovation project and commercial project, while the renovation and conversion of a three bedroom house in Spetchley Road, Worcester, into a six bedroom property by Tobandy Ltd of Tewkesbury topped the best small renovation section.

The developers will now go up against the nation’s best builders in a bid to be named Master Builder of the Year in a ceremony at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge Hotel on February 18.

Andy Griffiths, managing director at Spectus, said: “We were delighted to be nominated for the awards by the Fire Service. It is was great pride that we accepted the regional award. We have a dedicated team here who are all committed to achieving the highest quality and great customer service.”

The Master Builder of the Year Awards, a nationwide search by the Federation of Master Builders to find the best builders in the UK, is unique. Nominations must come from a satisfied client, and builders are judged on their all-round performance: technical ability together with customer service skills, attention to detail and the end result of the project.

John Watson, FMB service director for the Midlands, said: “The Master Builder of the Year Awards give clients the opportunity to celebrate a job well done and to say thank you to their builder. For the building industry it is an opportunity to celebrate all that is good about small local builders and their importance to the recovering UK economy. "
