ADVICE on European markets will be available for firms attending an event later this month.

Businesses are invited to register for a free event on Thursday, January 29 where they can get specialist advice on central and eastern European markets from the local UK Trade and Investment (UKTI) team.

Whether they are current or aspiring exporters, the firms can get tips from the UKTI, as well as representatives of overseas chambers of commerce.

The central and eastern European markets, which are accessible in two to three hours of flying time, consist of nine markets, 100 million consumers and a wealth of exporting opportunities.

2012 saw over £15 billion worth of exports from the UK to Europe’s emerging economies, with strong interventions carried out by the speakers at the special half-day event.

Speakers include Patrick Ney, Filip Franek, Martin Logar, Christopher Plant and Richard Reese - all senior figures at overseas British Chambers of Commerce .

In addition, economist Paul Forrest from the West Midlands Economic Forum will give an overview of the central and eastern European markets' current prospects.

Linda Smith, head of UK trade and investment at Herefordshire and Worcestershire Chamber of Commerce, said: “This event is a great opportunity for local businesses to find out more about the range of opportunities in the central and eastern markets that offer so much potential for British exporters.

"Joining our guest speakers will be the local UKTI team, on hand to discuss the range of support available.”

Sixways Stadium will play host to the event, which runs from 8.30am to 10.30am or until noon if businesses would like to take part in one to one sessions with representatives from the overseas Chamber network.

Those wishing to register for the event or book a one to one with one of the specialists should call the West Midlands Economic Forum on 07703 735 408.
