NEVER mind what was going on in Hollywood, the big gig of the week was the WAFTAS for Webbs garden centres in Worcestershire.

The glittering-ish event saw staff at the award-winning family-owned business mark another year of triumph with their own awards ceremony.

The Webbs Awards for Training and Achievements (WAFTAs) was a celebration by staff at Webbs garden centres in Wychbold and West Hagley to recognise their hard work over the last year and everyone went along to the West Midland Safari Park, near Bewdley to find out who were the stars scooping this year’s top awards.

Certificates and prizes were presented to celebrate a wide range of training initiatives and individual and department successes, including colleague of the year – voted for by staff themselves – which was awarded to Rob Fowler in the Wychbold pet and wild bird department and Jared Tibbetts of Webbs, West Hagley.

Chairman Ed Webb said that 2014 had been a great year for training at Webbs. Fifteen employees studied NVQs and 23 supervisors and managers are learning through the Webbs Leadership Academy.

He added: "This was a great awards evening and it was fantastic to see our staff get together and celebrate their achievements. I’m very proud of our staff and the WAFTAS is a wonderful way to say thank you for their dedication to Webbs.”
