A WORCESTER roof cladding manufacturer, whose products have been used on high-profile structures across the world including London's new Wembley Stadium and Real Madrid's Bernabeu Stadium, has had some of its assets bought out of administration.

RigiSystems Ltd on Blackpole Trading Estate West, which has been trading for almost 40 years, called in administrators at the beginning of the month and has now been rebranded Rigidal.

Omnis Exteriors Ltd, registered to an address in Milton Keynes, acquired certain trading assets of RigiSystems, which had appointed joint administrators from Grant Thornton and Wilson Field on April 2.

A statement on Rigidal's website said the new identity would boost the business to a "market leading position" in the design, manufacture and supply of architectural systems by investing in operations at its Worcester base.

"An integral part in the development of the new venture is the maintenance of the Rigidal brand, which has become synonymous with quality and technical expertise in the roofing and cladding industry," the statement added.

Accounts for the year to April 30 2013 revealed RigiSystems generated sales of £16.2m with a pre-tax loss of £58,165. During the period, the business had employed an average of 66 staff, although it is unclear how many, if any, have been affected by the administration and subsequent sale. In September 2013, management buyout vehicle RigiSystems International Ltd acquired a 51 per cent stake in the company.

Rigidal can trace its roots back to the late 1970s when it was formed as Talfab Business Products as a stockholder of imported aluminium products. It started production in Brierley Hill in 1991 and acquired Alcan Business Products three years later, which included a manufacturing facility in Dubai. The company has been headquartered in Worcester since 1994 and launched an office in France to service Europe in 2006.
