THE hoofers and hopefuls of the local business community will tripping the light fantastic for charity in the second Strictly Worcestershire ballroom dance contest.

Profits from the sell out spectacular, which takes place at the Chateau Impney, Droitwich on Thursday, May 21, will be split between the Worcestershire Breast Unit Campaign and Ladies Fighting Breast Cancer.

Producer Gerard Smith, who is also competing in the black tie event partnered by Harrison Clark Rickerbys marketing director Anna Roby-Welford, said: “After a successful debut in 2014, it is a privilege to raise funds once again for two excellent causes. Over the past few months, the contestants have given up an extraordinary amount of time to rehearse their routines and I’m sure the 700-strong audience will show their appreciation on what will be a memorable evening.”

Battling it out for the glitterball trophy are: former Worcestershire Ambassadors chairman Granville Orange and Julie Worsfold; Wyre Forest based GPs Dr Simon and Dr Sally Rumley; Bekki Normoyle, director of Angel Hands Childcare and Adrian Harker, supply development controller of Worcester Bosch Logistics, and Premier Places director Julia Williams and Dan Lewis, joint owner of DCL Window Cleaning.

Completing the line up are Free Radio DJ Hursty and recruitment consultant Laura Bligh of Peach Recruitment; Dave and Sue Connellan, directors of Worcester's Mobile Mechanic; Nick Sandy, director of accountants Richards Sandy Partnership, and his wife Julia, tax and trusts manager with law firm Thursfields, and property maintenance professional John Kerr and Ashleigh Whittall.

Veteran broadcaster Bob Warman, former trade minister and business ambassador Lord Digby Jones, dancer/choreographer Katie Love and managing editor/owner of Live 24-Seven magazines Katie McPhilimey make up the judging panel.

Katie Love and Worcester-based Michael Buble tribute Steve Maitland will be performing at the event, which is hosted by BBC Hereford and Worcester broadcaster Andrew Easton and Caron Steele, who claimed the 2014 title with husband Mark.
