LOCAL companies are being invited to take part in an "unmissable" export trip to Riga in Latvia in November.

The visit is being organised by UK Trade & Investment and is aimed at firms with with little or no experience of overseas trade.

Linda Smith, who will lead the trip as the head of one of the region’s international trade teams, said: "If you are thinking about how you can sell outside of the UK but aren’t sure where to start, this opportunity of a fully escorted business development visit is unmissable”.

The trip to the Baltics will take place from Monday-Wednesday, November 23-25, when delegates will learn how to approach the local market. It will provide a unique opportunity to explore a new market, make business contacts and experience the support available from UKTI here in the UK and overseas.

Sanita Bankava, head of trade for the British Embassy in Latvia, added: "We are highly anticipating the arrival of this group of British businesses in November during British Week. Many UK companies don’t realise that there are customers out there in countries such as Latvia that have appetite for their products and services. What’s more here in the Baltics there is a real appetite for the excellence associated with Britain, which is why the visit is being timed to coincide with the popular ‘British Week’”.

The visit is one of five export insight visits organised by UKTI nationally as part of the new support for first time exporters: https://www.gov.uk/export-insight-visits. The cost of the trip is £200 plus VAT per delegate, and includes pre-arranged return flights from Gatwick, accommodation in Riga, a group dinner and a full programme.
