A DEVELOPMENT site manager from Worcester has been crowned the best in the west for the second time.

Andy Shaw, who is in charge of Taylor Wimpey's Diglis Water project, took the regional title in the National House Building Council's Pride in the Job Awards 2015, having also won it last year. He was selected from around 15,000 UK site managers and was one of twelve recognised at a ceremony held in Birmingham. He will now go forward to the NHBC’s Pride in the Job Supreme Awards, which will be presented at a ceremony in London early next year.

Peter Watton, NHBC regional director, said: "NHBC Pride in the Job Awards recognises the hard work it takes to build high quality homes and rewards the excellence these awards uncover. Last year NHBC registered more than 145,000 new homes and site managers play an important role in delivering these. by adding a competitive element to house building, recognising exceptional site managers like Andy, Pride in the Job promotes continuous improvement in the quality of new homes, year on year, for homeowners and their families to enjoy.

“I have visited hundreds of sites, and to reach this level of the competition means without question you have to be the elite of this industry. Andy is building homes of a very high standard, and is worthy of the title West’s Regional winner in the Multi-storey Builder category. At NHBC we believe that recognising the workmanship of the best site managers plays an important role in bringing high quality homes to consumers, creating homes we are proud to live in.”
