ONE of the largest event rooms in Worcestershire has re-opened after a major refurbishment.

Mercure Kidderminster Hotel in Habberley Road, Bewdley has unveiled its new event space following the major overhaul of its Balmoral Suite. Catering for up to 350 guests, the suite’s design scheme takes its inspiration from the hotel’s Victorian heritage.

The 19th century four-star hotel is surrounded by 20 acres of countryside and has a sweeping driveway and abundance of period features. The Balmoral Suite has seen a complete transformation, with a contemporary scheme that reflects the hotel’s heritage. A new carpet has a modern take on a Victorian floral pattern and the mezzanine floor has been given an injection of glamour with the refurbishment of the spiral staircases, now providing symmetry and grandeur. Windows have been restored to their original full height and have new silk curtains in a delicate floral design.

General manager Randall Kiewitz said: "We are delighted with our beautiful new event space and can’t wait to share the results of the project with our visitors and guests. The décor perfectly reflects the unique heritage of the hotel, while creating a space that is fresh, contemporary and romantic."

This year had also seen the launch of Mercure Kidderminster’s new Feel Good Health Club, with Olympic-size swimming pool, gym, steam room and spa bath.
