THIS week is Administrative Professionals Week, a "hats off" to all the PAs, assistants and office workers who oil the wheels of business.

In tribute to them, Pitman Training Worcester is hosting an open week offering a free Microsoft Office Top Tips Course, with free CV and career advice to anyone looking to get into the industry, or those looking for ways they can progress in their careers. As supporting PAs and office workers is very much a part of Pitman Training’s heritage, since Sir Isaac Pitman invented shorthand in 1837, the company in New Street will be celebrating those working within administrative roles and recognising the skills and loyalty of administrative employees, that every office depends upon.

In its offices on the first floor of Richardson House it is running an open week from Monday-Friday when drop in sessions are available offering a free course on the top 10 secrets of MS Office, which could shave hours off tasks, free CV advice, guidance on getting into the industry. In addition, there will a free skills analysis to help people establish their current competency in social media, bookkeeping and effective business communication, which are available all week.

Claire Lister, Pitman Training Group managing director said: “We recognise and have always recognised that administrative professionals are very often the cornerstone of successful businesses, supporting the business owners and wider teams in making sure the office runs smoothly and projects are managed seamlessly. So often this sector of professionals are unsung heroes, as they tend to be very modest and just get on with things, but this is the week to reward them and say ‘Thank You’. I will be doing this with my team and I hope other local employers will choose to do the same”.

Administrative Professionals Week, which originate in America, is an opportunity for professionals who operate in this sector, including administrative assistants, receptionists, secretaries, PA’s and other administrative support professionals to recognise and celebrate their personal achievements, and also the achievements of the industry as a whole.
