AN automotive lighting business has switched to Worcestershire after taking a shine to the county's road links.

The Lighting Consultants Ltd, which was previously based around Fort Dunlop in Birmingham, has moved to a unit in the historic listed building Empire Court in Redditch following a deal put together by property agents John Truslove. The business has taken 1,214 sq ft design offices on a three year lease at what was once the British Mills needle factory made famous in the best-selling novel Young Jethro by local author Roy Clews.

The company has taken on an additional unit on the same site to allow manufacture and assembly of its products designs. It employs seven people, partnering with other component makers to bring its lighting solutions to fruition.

John Truslove director Ian Parker said: “This is the sort of high technology company that Redditch is extremely keen to attract. Once again the town’s great transport links have pulled in a business which will be of great benefit to the industrial base. Hard-working executives are fed up with sitting in Birmingham traffic jams.”

The firm, headed by managing director Chris Eardley, is predominantly involved in Interior Lighting sector and this covers, ambient, contour/signature & dynamic lighting for the Automotive OEMs. Key clients include Jaguar Land Rover, McLaren, Rolls-Royce, Bentley, Tata Motors & Audi
