POTTERS Marinated Meats of Worcester has been voted the winner of a national competition to find Britain’s best small business.
The butcher’s from Astwood Road, which has been operating for almost 30 years, pipped five other finalists to the post in a public vote run by smallbusiness.co.uk and supported by small business insurance provider Insur antz.com.
The competition was held to identify and celebrate the small and medium enterprises which encapsulate the true spirit of entrepreneurship within their local communities. Business owners Barry Potter and his wife Jane impressed with their proven ability to stay ahead of the competition as well as retain a loyal customer base throughout the economic highs and lows of the past 30 years.
Mr Potter said: “We are over the moon to accept the title of small business local legend and would like to thank everyone who voted for us. Our local community, and particularly our customers, have been rooting for us, which is testament to how valued our business is within the neighbourhood.
“We pride ourselves on offering customers the very best produce with the very best advice thrown in. Although we are competing against the big supermarket chains, our customers remain loyal because Potters Marinated Meats provides an added value service with a personal touch.”
James Pickering, managing director of competition sponsor Insurantz.com, said: “Potters Marinated Meats shone when it came to short- listing the finalists and have now gone on to impress the public. Competition was high as all of the six finalists demonstrated long term ability to thrive in a tough trading year, but their passion for providing customers with extensive choice and a quality service was extraordinary and helped to set them apart.”
The competition attracted entries from all over the country.
