Compton Verney art gallery has recently begun hosting weddings and has conducted a survey of 5,000 people to find out more about modern wedding habits. According to the survey, 40 per cent of people got engaged within a year of meeting and 10 per cent proposed while they or their partner was doing domestic chores. Land prices rising

LAND prices have increased by 20 per cent over the past year, according to Knight Frank Farmland Index. Andrew Shirley, head of rural land research at the company, said values continued to increase as demand outstripped supply. Average prices rose by 6.9 per cent to £5,679 acre in the second quarter of the year. “Land is now worth almost 20 per cent more than it was 12 months ago and we are predicting growth of at least 10 per cent over the next year,” he said.
