Land prices rising

LAND prices have increased by 20 per cent over the past year, according to Knight Frank Farmland Index. Andrew Shirley, head of rural land research at the company, said values continued to increase as demand outstripped supply. Average prices rose by 6.9 per cent to £5,679 acre in the second quarter of the year. “Land is now worth almost 20 per cent more than it was 12 months ago and we are predicting growth of at least 10 per cent over the next year,” he said.
