NEAL Radford has re-joined Evesham Cricket Club for the 2008 season.

The former England and Worcestershire star, who has 994 first class wickets to his name, is returning to the the Birmingham and District Division Two club following a season away at Stratford-upon-Avon.

First team captain Jon Gregory said: "Neal will add some invaluable experience to our batting and bowling line up.

"He has always been an inspirational player for us and has never failed to deliver with either bat or ball. On the field he is a real winner and that is what this club needs.

"We have a couple of youngsters in our first team and playing along side the likes of Neal Radford will help their development enormously. There is so much a young cricketer can learn from being part of a team which includes Neal."

Radford himself is delighted to be back with the Avon Street club.

"Evesham is a club which I have a lot of affection for, it will be great to be part of their 2008 campaign," he said.

"They had a bit of a struggle last season and only just avoided the drop. I'll be trying to make sure we perform to the best of our potential this season, and if I can contribute with bat and ball I'll be happy with that."

Radford may well be teaming up with Bangladesh skipper Mohammad Ashraful.

An Evesham CC spokesman confirmed: "I have spoken to Ash a couple of times over the past few days. He is looking forward to joining us and should be here the week commencing April 28 in time for our first league game.

"A lot still depends on Bangladesh's international commitments."

Evesham's first league fixture is at home against St Georges on Saturday, May 3.
