TECHNOLOGY specialist OGL Computer was a charity champion in 2015.

The company with offices in Kidderminster and Stourport-on-Severn gave more than £28,000 through donations and local sponsorship, which was shared between 70 different charities, local clubs, organisations and community groups. These included Kidderminster Male Choir, Barnards Green Cricket Club, Forest Dog Rescue and Heart of Worcestershire College. OGL also sponsored the Stourport and Bewdley regattas in the summer and sponsored the Autumn in Malvern Festival in September.

Also in September, two teams, one headed by operations director Debbie Byrne and the other by sales director Sam Byrne, went head to head to raise money for Kemp Hospice by Running the Rainbow. Competition was high between the two sisters resulting in £1,319 being raised in support of Kemp.

Meanwhile, the IT company’s main beneficiary for 2015 was Winston’s Wish, which was nominated as the its official company charity for the year, and to which almost £5,000 was donated by OGL and its staff last year. Winston’s Wish provide support and guidance to bereaved children, their families and professionals.

Cindy Phillips, marketing manager at OGL said: “The directors at OGL are very committed to ensuring the company is run as a socially responsible and ethical organisation and we hope the £28,000 that has gone to good causes over the last 12 months is testament to that. 2016 will be no different and we already have a host of causes pencilled in to support this year. In fact our Technical director and a group of around 10 staff are currently in training to swim Lake Windermere in June in aid of The Daisy Garland charity.”

To boost charity donations made by the company, staff at the IT solutions company are encouraged to get involved in fundraising days by way of dress down days and coffee mornings, which are held every month in aid of different causes.
