ENGINEERING students can take the first steps on their career path at an open day run by the Manufacturing Engineering Technology Academy in Evesham.

The academy works in partnership with South Worcestershire College to provide a range of courses and the event will be held in Davies House, Davies Road, Evesham, on Thursday, July 21 from 3pm-5pm.

META was set up by Rotec Engineering, which saw a need to bridge the gap between education and industry needs and the open day will showcase its facilities and courses available.

There will be three courses on offer at META, all of which are very hands on, giving students practical skills as well as some class room based learning. The courses are a mix of practical and classroom based teaching, as some things can’t be taught from a book and not everyone excels in pure classroom taught subjects. The skills learnt enable students to go on to the next level of education or give the essential practical skills for work.

The courses available include welding and fabrication (levels two and three), automotive paint and repair (levels two and three) and engineering (levels two and three).
