A series of 10 concerts featuring world class orchestras is planned for Cheltenham Town Hall.
The concerts start in September and run until May 2010. Highlights include the Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra and the City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra with an all-Russian programme conducted by Alexander Vedernikov.
Concert goers will also be treated to the strains of the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, Philharmonia Orchestra, London Mozart Players and the Orchestra of St John’s.
Works by Beethoven, Brahms, Schubert, Schumann and Mendlessohn will form the backbone of the season which also features 20th century masters such as Samuel Barber and Frank Martin as well as two of Britain’s most enduring composers, Elgar and Vaughan Williams.
Soloists include pianist Boris Giltburg and Paul Lewis.
Also making their debuts will be the young Russian pianist Polina Leschenko six-times juno award winner James Ehnes and French cellist Emmanuelle Betrand.
Susan Sullivan of Cheltenham Town Hall said: “The grandeur and atmosphere of Cheltenham Town Hall lends itself very well to hosting the concert series, which has developed a loyal following over the years. We are proud to be staging such a marvellous range of internationally renowned names in the programme again this season.” The town hall box office is now open for tickets on 0844 5762210 or online at chelt enhamtownhall.org.uk.
Tickets for all 10 concerts, or half-series tickets, can be purchased at a reduced price.
