THE Emerald City will come to Pershore’s Number 8 this month in an all singing, all dancing family show.
The youth arm of Pershore Operatic and Dramatic Society (PODYS) presents its production of The Wiz – a Motown update of the classic MGM movie starring Judy Garland – at the High Street venue on Friday and Saturday, February 19-20.
The original film version of The Wiz starred Diana Ross as Dorothy and Michael Jackson as Scarecrow. But it’s Gigi George who plays PODYS’ leading lady, with Angus McIvor as Scarecrow, Charlie Amphlett as the cowardly Lion, Kate Baston as Tin Man and a large supporting cast.
Follow Dorothy and her gang in their search to find The Wiz as they Ease on Down the Road to a whole host of toe-tapping hits.
There will be a 7.30pm performance on both nights and a 2.30pm matinee on Saturday. Tickets cost £10 from 01386 555488.
