A FORMER frontman of some of Britain’s biggest groups over the past four decades will perform at Malvern Theatres.
Paul Carrack is appearing at the venue on Thursday, February 18, fresh from highly successful summer as a special guest for The Eagles on their tour across the UK and Europe.
The Sheffield-born singer and songwriter has had a string of top 40 hits, starting in the 1970s when he formed Ace with Warm Dust bassist Tex Comer, before joining Roxy Music as keyboardist.
In the 1980s he left Roxy for Squeeze, to replace Jools Holland on keyboards, and sang lead vocals on the band’s biggest hit to date, Tempted before teaming up with Mike Rutherford from Genesis to form Mike & The Mechanics.
They scored international hits with singles Silent Running and All I Need Is A Miracle from their debut album and the title track from their second album in 1989, The Living Years, hit the top of the charts in the US and Canada, and number two in the UK.
Mike & The Mechanics went on to record four more albums in the 1990s, and later that decade Paul got together with Roger Waters for a legendary live performance of The Wall in Berlin.
For the last 10 years, Paul has focussed increasingly on his solo project and has since worked with the likes of Ringo Starr, BB King, Eric Clapton and Elton John.
On his latest tour, he will be performing a host of original songs from his new album I Know That Name.
The concert will start at 7.30pm and tickets cost £26.50. To book, call the box office on 01684 892277 or visit malvern-theatres.co.uk.
