ALL the way from Italy, the Quartetto di Cremona play at Chipping Campden School Hall this month.
Considered to be one of the finest Italian string quartets, they have played in almost every major concert hall and will be making their debut in Campden on Tuesday, March 16.
Featuring Cristiano Gualco and Paolo Andreoli on violin, Simone Gramaglia on viola and Giovanni Scaglione on cello, the quartet will be joined for the second half of the concert by Simon Crawford-Phillips on piano.
The Cremona Quartet has received critical international acclaim from leading European and overseas venues and festivals, including at the Wigmore Hall in London’s West End, and at the Brighton Festival.
The programme at Campden will include Schumann’s Quartet op. 41 no.1, Haydn’s Quartet op 54 no.2 and Brahms’ piano Quintet in F Minor op. 34.
Crawford-Phillips has a diverse career as a song accompanist, chamber musician and soloist performing with various musical companies including the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the Scottish Chamber Orchestra and the English Chamber Orchestra.He made his Proms debut as a piano duo with Philip Moore in 2001, and more recently played in Iceland, Japan and Australia.
The recital at the Cider Mill Lane venue starts at 8pm.
