CHILDREN'S favourite The Secret Garden is being brought to life at Birmingham Repertory Theatre this festive season.
A new musical adaptation of the classic tale, aimed at audiences from age eight upwards, runs at the Broad Street theatre until January 8.
The play sees spoilt ten-year-old Mary Lennox, suddenly orphaned, making the journey from sun-baked India to live with her distant uncle in wintry Yorkshire. There she meets local lad, Dickon, and learns of a magical garden lost behind a door that's been locked for many years.
Actress Amy Lennox, who has understudied as Elle in the West End production of Legally Blonde, stars as Mary. While Thomas Aldridge plays Dickon in his third outing at The REP following appearances in His Dark Materials and Peter Pan.
Adapted from the novel by Frances Hodgson Burnett, the play which is a co-production with the West Yorkshire Playhouse is directed by Ian Brown and features music and lyrics by Tim Sutton and Garry Lyons with set design by Ruari Murchison.
