Talk about society

ROBERT Beckford will give a talk on changes to British society over the last 40 years at All Saints Church in Evesham on Monday as part of the Lent Series. Beckford is an author, a lecturer in theology at London’s Goldsmith’s College and a regular broadcaster for Channel 4. All talks, which begin at 7.30pm and last for two hours, will be followed by discussion. Free to attend.

Basket workshops

willow worker Norah Kennedy will share her skills at two workshops at Mill Dene Garden in Blockley this spring. Norah has been working with willow for nearly 30 years. She said: “The appeal of willow is that it is a natural material with a long tradition of uses in the garden. I believe everyone has a basket in them.” The workshops are on April 11 and May 9. amateur plant and garden photographers are urged to snap up a place on a workshop being held at a Cotswold garden. Photographers Jason Ingram and Paul Debois will be running the two-day photography workshops at Mill Dene Garden in Blockley on Thursday and Friday, April 28-29 and on June 4 and 5. Workshops include sessions on downloading and storing images correctly, plus a professional critique of the work produced. The cost of the course, which includes lunch, is £155. AN art exhibition exploring life in a South Wales mining community opens in Stow on Sunday. Mike Jones is widely recognised as one of Wales’ greatest living painters. He painted as a hobby before his talent was spotted by celebrated Welsh artist Will Roberts. The exhibition is at Fosse Gallery until Saturday, March 26.
