THE new chairman of Vale Harmony, a cappella chorus, has issued an open invitation to men throughout Worcestershire to come and try their hand at singing.

Chris Franey, who became chairman at the AGM of the Pershore-based chorus said: " My aim during my term of office is to get as many guys as I can experiencing the joys of singing.

"It's well known that singing is good for your wellbeing, and to be part of a group of like-minded chaps in tune with each other really does uplift your spirits."

Chris, who's a Management Consultant from Fladbury, takes over as chairman from Chris Hartwright from Tibberton . The Musical Director is Mike Gearey from Droitwich.

Formed as a barbershop chorus in 1978, Vale Harmony still sing in four-part, close harmony style. Mr Franey, who sings baritone in the chorus, said: "We're widening our repertoire still further to broaden our appeal, though we'll still be singing pure barbershop in competitions. We have a great heritage and we're already growing our membership as we look ahead to a great future."

Vale Harmony will be singing in the Worcester Victorian Fayre on Saturday, November 26 to raise money for Leukaemia CARE. In the meantime, anyone who'd like to sing with them can ring 01386 792549 or 07766 524833 or visit their website at www.valeharmony.co.uk for more information.
