THE ENGLISH String Orchestra will return to The Roses Theatre, in Tewkesbury, for a concert of classical music's "all time greats".

The baton will tap for silent anticipation on Sunday May 22, at 3pm.

A spokesman said: "The English String Orchestra will be delivering their internationally renowned interpretations of some of classical music’s all time greats, including Vivaldi’s favourite music coupled with Bach’s supremely great third Brandenburg Concerto and some all time classics, from the romantic and modern era.

"Worcestershire-based English String Orchestra is the international professional orchestra of Elgar County. Founded in 1978, by conductor William Boughton, it soon earned an international reputation for its stunning performances of English music. Regularly touring throughout Europe, ESO have strived to make classical music accessible for everyone." As well as collaborating with musicians from other genres such as jazz, rock and pop, "ESO have brought classical music to the attention of new demographics".

The spokesman added: "This will be the first live orchestra to appear at The Roses in quite some time, and there is no better group to reintroduce this exhilarating form of entertainment to a local audience.
