THE WRITING isn't on the wall for Belshazzar’s Feast, the "odd couple" folk duo, now celebrating their 21st anniversary.

They are on the road this November and December, on a festive tour, and they're coming to a venue near you.

A spokesman said: "Start with traditional English music, add a touch of classical and jazz, throw in a bit of pop and music hall, and top it off wry humour for a unique live experience to make Belshazzar's Feast one of the most popular duos in folk music.

"Now in their twenty-first year together, Paul Sartin and Paul Hutchinson of Belshazzar’s Feast bring a wealth of talent to the stage. "

Paul Sartin was a member of the multi-BBC Radio 2 Award-winning big band, Bellowhead.

Paul Hutchinson’s love of fusion music originates from his days with the Celtic jazzers, Hoover the Dog. He has a keen interest in and knowledge of 17th and 18th Century dance music which has resulted in tours to Europe and America.

Belshazzar’s Feast received a coveted nomination for the Best Duo Award at the 2010 BBC Folk Awards and are regulars at folk festivals across the summer, with touring including a popular annual Christmas tour of seasonal songs and tunes, this year not excepted.

Recent broadcasts include appearances on the Claire Balding Show (BBC Radio 2), and In Tune (BBC Radio 3).

It was a review in the Independent on Sunday which called them, "One of folk’s great odd couples".

And oddly enough, local people will be able to make up their own minds, by coming along to their gig at The Fleece, Bretforton, on Sunday, December 11.
