LAKEFEST, a celebration of music, cider and beer, will take place on a farm near Tewkesbury this month.

Reef and indie favourites Athlete are set to headline the event, with Toploader and Chesney Hawkes – singer of The One and Only – further down the bill.

Lakefest – at Croft Farm Waterpark, Bredons Hardwick, on May 18-19 – grew out of the success of an experimental music and cider festival hosted at the site last year. The event was headlined by the Wurzels and saw more than 1,500 attendees consume 8,500 pints of cider.

This year, the organisers Martin Newell, Steve Daff and Lee Martin decided to set their sights even higher and spread the fun over two days.

The festival doesn’t aim to match Reading or Glastonbury for scale, but instead the organisers hope it will be somewhere people will “want to come, drink, laugh, dance and party”.

The festival is supporting two charities, StayStrong and Winston’s Wish.

Tickets can be bought for the whole weekend with camping for £79 or for individual days. For more information or to buy tickets, visit lakefest.co.uk.
