Tito Jackson is releasing his first solo album at the age of 62.
The Jackson 5 star has been working on a record for some time but revealed to Jet magazine that fatherhood, finding the right label and personal tragedies such as the death of his younger brother Michael Jackson had delayed it.
He said: “I have been working on this album for quite some time.
“I became more interested in being a father. I had heard about fathers that didn’t stick around for their kids and I didn’t want to be one of those people.
“I also had a lot of tragedies over the years. Every time there’s a tragedy, it can set you back a little bit. You just have to keep going and do everything that you love in honour of the people that passed.”
The album is called Tito Time, which the singer explained is “because I took my time with it”.
“I’m probably the last Jackson in the world to ever record anything,” he said. “All of my siblings released their solo projects so it’s my turn years later.”
