TALK about reaching a landmark, the Worcester Operatic and Dramatic Society is getting ready for its 125th Anniversary Dinner.

On February 17, WODS will be holding a celebration dinner and dance at ‘The White House’, in Foregate Street.

A spokesman said: "Not only was this the venue of its first AGM held in October 1892, WODS held its ‘Coming of Age’ Dinner at the same location in 1913, then known as the ‘Star Hotel’.

"So the scene is set once again to make history at this historic venue, when members of its youth section WODYS will entertain members and the Mayor of Worcester."

Aside from entertaining Worcestershire audiences, WODS is also celebrating a proud fundraising heritage.

The spokesman added: "Since 1988 WODS has maintained its tradition of donating to local charities giving over £14,000 since 1988 and WODYS donations to local youth causes now exceeds £24,000."

WODS is currently in rehearsal for its 179th celebration production of ‘HMS Pinafore and other infernal nonsense’ at the Swan Theatre from April 25 to April 29.

Tickets can be ordered via tickets@wods.co.uk or the theatre box office on 01905 611427.
