WORCESTER Operatic and Dramatic Society members are in the mood to fly the flag, and it's nothing to do with Brexit.

Bruce Wyatt, and spokesman for WODS, said the group has a lot to be proud of this year, as the company marks its 125th anniversary.

He said: "When it comes to flying the flag, WODS has a lot to celebrate, as they get ready for ‘HMS Pinafore and Other Infernal Nonsense’ to be staged from April 25 at the Swan Theatre Worcester.

"After a first Act new revival of their first ever show in 1892, the best of WODS will re-live some of the favourite nautical songs and dances from recent productions including the award winning ‘Anything Goes’ led by Sarah Gilhooly and a tap dancing chorus."

Bruce said that Jacqui Cook will "provide a welcome return, to sing ‘By the Sea’ from ‘Sweeney Todd’.

He said: Add to that Noel Coward’s ‘Has anybody seen our ship’ sang by Leanne Stevens and Laura Fullelove, with Glynis Smith as ‘Stately as a Galleon’ by Joyce Grenfell and the audience will be overboard with fun.

And look out for Chloe Earl as ‘The Little Mermaid’ and get ready to wave some flags as the show finishes ‘Last night of the Prom’ Style with a fantastic rendition of ‘Rule Britannia… sung by Kimberley Kainey, this will surely send everyone home happy."

Given its nautical theme, WODS has decided to raise funds for the Worcester Fund Raising branch of the Royal National Lifeboat Institution (RNLI), during the week of the show.
