LEDBURY folks and visitors will have something to read this Easter, thanks to the market town's unusual "Lettering Festival".

Organiser Caroline Owen-Thomas launched the event last year, and she added: "For some mad reason I'm doing it again this Easter."

She added: "Following on from last year's success, the Ledbury Lettering Festival is back again at Weavers gallery in Church Lane, to celebrate the beauty and diversity of calligraphy.

"The exhibition will be showing work from across the Three Counties and from various calligraphy groups with words on paper, fabric, handmade books and stone: together with hand-cast pewter jewellery made by Stephen Buck."

Caroline said she started the festival "to raise awareness of hand lettering in the area and to give out information about classes and workshops as well as where people can go to commission work".

She added: "Last year's response was amazing - over 800 people visited in nine days - I couldn't believe it!'

There will be regular demonstrations and people will be on hand "to chat about their love of lettering".

There will also be three days of workshops in Copperplate, Folded Books and a Celtic Day.

The exhibition runs from Saturday April 15 to Sunday April 23 and is open daily from 10am to 5pm.
