THE ARTRIX in Bromsgrove has a mission this summer, to keep holiday boredom far away.

A packed programme for youngsters has been lined up, to keep at bay the cry that most parents cringe to hear, "I'm bored!'

A spokesman said: "The theatrical treats begin with Little Howard's Big Show for Kids on Saturday July 15, featuring an interactive stand up show, live animation, lots of jokes and songs. It continues with Morgan & West’s Utterly Spiffing Spectacular Magic Show For Kids on Sunday July 23."

The spokesman added: "This show mixes brain boggling illusion and good old fashioned tom-foolery, in a show for all the family, where magic and silliness abound."

Captured live at the National Theatre, a recorded performance of JM Barrie’s much-loved tale, Peter Pan, screens at Artrix cinema on Saturday August 5.

The spokesman said: "A riot of magic, music and make-believe ensues in this delightful NT Live encore screening of a childhood classic.

"Other family events throughout August include a Baby Rave on Sunday August 6. This event is best described as 90s rave culture meets CBeebies. August’s Baby Rave has already Sold Out, but don’t get your glow sticks in a twist, there are still tickets available for the October Halloween Baby Rave."

On Tuesday, August 8, there will be a performance of POP! This features "a hapless hero and his faithful teddy bear, deckchair and fantastic basket of tricks".

Half Moon will present Three on Tuesday August 15.

The spokesman said: "Three wishes, three witches, three sisters, three pigs, three bears, three musketeers, Three is a trio of well-known fairytales with spellbinding stories and live music.

"And finally The First King of England... in a Dress, is at Artrix on Friday August 18t. If you love Vikings and Saxons then you’ll love this fun packed family story-telling show, including puppetry, music and plenty of joining in.
