Man threatened to jump

EMERGENCY services were called to Pershore last night after a man threatened to throw himself off a bridge into the River Avon.

Police, fire and ambulance personnel were at the scene near the road to Evesham for some time folowing the incident shortly after 7pm.

Fire fighters deployed their boat downstream although it was not required.

Police managed to talk the man down and he was led to safety.
