Spring sunshine greets Wheelers
EVESHAM Wheelers' midweek run saw a dozen members leave Hinton-on-the Green destined for Tewkesbury Abbey.
The run was led by Carol Hall whose route took in a tour of Bredon Hill before cutting across Ashchurch and heading through the pretty villages surrounding Tewkesbury.
The return was via Bredon, Kemerton and Overbury and on to Ashton-under-Hill, Kersoe and Elmley Castle.
The trip was made in welcome early spring sunshine and 48 miles were covered.
For those wanting a midweek workout, the Wheelers' Wednesday run is an ideal way to get some more sedate miles in, while seeing the best of the Vale countryside.
Last Sunday saw a hardy group of ten members head to Clifford Chambers.
The group left Evesham via Badsey and Willlersey then on the old Roman road of Icknield Street to Honeybourne where a puncture suffered by Arthur Bennett gave the group a well-earned rest.
Pebworth and Mickleton came next, then the peleton went over Meon Hill to Illmington. Dave Purser, leading the run, missed a turning so the group were able to enjoy a visit to Atherstone-on-Stour before they finally arrived in Clifford Chambers Garden Centre, which was closed!
A group decision was then made to head for the cafe on the Green Way, which thankfully was open.
The group made their return through Welford, Barton, and Marcliffe before the fast descent down the Fish and Anchor Bank in Offenham.
Forty-five miles were covered in unexpected good spring weather.
This week's club run leaves the High Street in Evesham at 9.15am on Sunday and all are welcome.
