McDonald’s staff put some beef into it
restaurant staff and passers-by lifted a car into the air to free an Evesham biker after he became trapped following an accident.
Nursery worker Mark Kaler's leg was wedged beneath a Ford Focus after it was in collision with his Yamaha Dragstar at the entrance to the McDonald's restaurant at Four Pools.
He said: "I was having to support my weight on my fingertips because I couldn't free my foot. Then someone took my weight and some others, including some of the staff from McDonald's, lifted the car so I was able to drag my foot free."
Mark, 41, was taken by ambulance to Worcestershire Royal Hospital where doctors found he had fractured his right tibia in three places.
After two days, he was allowed to return to his Larkspur Drive home, where he is recovering with his lower leg still in plaster.
"The doctors are hoping the bone will knit naturally but I have to wait and see whether they will have to put in a pin to hold it together," he said. "I want to express my utmost appreciation to the McDonald's management and staff and to everyone else who kept me comfortable until the ambulance arrived."
McDonald's franchise holder Peter Davies said: "The manager on duty was Baxter Miller and he and some of our staff did what they could to help. It is what anyone would have done."
The woman car driver was not hurt in the accident.
