Rotary reward: Evesham captain Jon Gregory with Peter Wisbey.

CHAIRMAN Peter Wisbey was presented with the design of a plaque to mark Evesham Cricket Club's thanks for the flood relief grant received from the Rotary Club of Evesham.

The grant was one of a number of generous grants and donations that have helped the club recover from last July's devastating flood.

Club captain Jon Gregory made last Saturday's presentation to the chairman who was able to see the progress that has been made with the restoration of the ground and buildings which is now nearly complete and final repairs in progress on the historic 1906 cricket pavilion.

The grant came from the Rotary 3 Counties Flood appeal funded by a national effort to provide support for community services in Gloucestershire, Herefordshire and Worcestershire that suffered losses in the floods.

The club has also received a donation of £500 from The Co-operative for a cricket kit and to help pay for a specialist girls' coach.

Evesham has established a girls' squad that trains every Wednesday night under the guidance of Rachael Baldwin from the University of Worcester.
