WHEN Amanda Peck organised a balloon release for her daughter's birthday party, she thought they would travel as far as Tewkesbury.
But little did she know that one balloon flew all the way to Germany.
She received a letter and photographs from Laura Volmer, from Koln, in March saying her grandparents found the balloon near the town of Borken in Westphalia.
Mrs Peck said: "I've always done the whole message in a bottle sort of thing. But I never imagined it would go so far. To start with I thought it was a bit of a joke."
Mrs Peck's two-year-old daughter Alexia enjoyed a party at Hampton Scout hut in February and every child took home a balloon.
But as there was five left over, Mrs Peck attached a message to each and released them into the sky.
She added: "We have sent them a little gift to say thank you."
