Councillor urges rule change on drive tests
10:00am Sunday 28th October 2012 in News
A WARWICKSHIRE county councillor has said he will campaign for a change in the law after the unusual crash in High Street, Welford-on-Avon.
Coun Peter Barnes said he will put a motion to the county council and Stratford District Council about road safety after the incident.
Police were called to the property in High Street, Welford, just after 10.30pm and found the car lodged so far into the kitchen area of the property that it was not immediately removed because the house may have been in danger of collapsing.
Coun Barnes said that he hoped changes could be made to driving laws so that young drivers had more experience before getting behind the wheel.
“We have to reduce the number of accidents. My concern is that young drivers are driving too fast.
“For their safety and everybody’s safety I think they should have a year’s experience before they get on the roads and shouldn’t have young passengers for three years.
“After this accident, I hope some good may come out of it.”
