Poppy garland fund-raiser

Poppy garland fund-raiser Poppy garland fund-raiser

A GARLAND of poppies is to be hung in Pershore as part of this year’s Remembrance fund-raising drive.

Pershore Poppy Appeal committee came up with the idea and is hoping it will raise at least £500. The garland will be made of 500 poppies, which will each be sponsored by someone for £1.

Everyone who takes part will receive a small card of thanks and the poppy will be placed in the garland, which will be hung in Chapman Court outside ASDA.

Ken Tallis, chairman of Pershore Royal British Legion, said: “Not only is it an excellent way to raise much-needed funds for the Poppy Appeal but it also helps to create a focal point of poppies in the town during the period of Remembrance.

“I’m hopeful that this is a start of a new tradition and that next year we need to have more poppies printed as it would be fantastic to have the whole square surrounded in poppy garlands.”

Volunteers will be in ASDA foyer on Saturday, and next Saturday, November 3.
