Amber, six, is ‘youngest DJ’

ALTHOUGH she can barely see over her decks, Amber Jacobs is on course to be crowned the world’s youngest ever DJ.

The six-year-old, of Throckmorton, unofficially set a new Guinness World Record on Sunday in front of scores of family and friends at the Swan Inn in Evesham.

In order to achieve the title, Amber – known as DJ AJ – had to present an hour-long slot live on air and play some of her favourite songs to listeners across the world.

In total she stayed on air for one hour, five minutes and 20 seconds – raising funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice in the process. Amber said: “I’m quite happy now I’ve done it.

I was quite worried because of the amount of people there. I really enjoyed it.

“I want to be a nurse when I grow up so I will keep DJing as a hobby.”

The Pinvin First School pupil, who already co-presents a show on online radio station TBFM with her dad Steve, has caused a media storm around the world, attracting interest from international newspapers, radio, TV and magazines.

She has also been receiving messages from rock royalty, including Medina Lake, Breed 77, Doctor and the Medics frontman Clive Jackson and Sharon Osborne.

And one of Amber’s favourite bands, Hangfire, travelled all the way from Wales to wish her luck.

Mum Jude said Amber was a little shy at first but quickly got into her stride. She thanked all those who had made the attempt possible.

Evidence of the attempt will now be submitted to officials at Guinness World Records for verification.Donations can still be made via justgiving.com/ DJ-AJ.
