PLANS for 46 new homes in Bidford have narrowly gained approval from planners – despite opposition from the parish council.

The application for the new homes to the rear of 34 Waterloo Road scraped through at Stratford District Council planning committee (West) after the chairman cast the deciding vote in favour of approval. Speaking after the application by Persimmon Homes Ltd was given the go-ahead, Bidford Parish Council clerk Elisabeth Uggerlose said the council was disappointed with the outcome.

“We were none too happy about these houses,” said Mrs Uggerlose.

“We were very disappointed.

The people who buy the houses don’t work in the village – they work away and commute from the village.”

Another application for a further 45 homes in Bidford on land north of Bramley Way by Taylor Wimpey UK Ltd, which is also opposed by the parish council, was set to be decided yesterday evening.
