EVESHAM United Football Club officials received the news they had been hoping for this afternoon.

Wychavon District Council's planning committee agreed to allow the club permission to host non-football events at its Cheltenham Road clubhouse.

Members voted 12 to 2 in favour of varying the planning condition placed on the club which meant it could be used for football only, when the Jubilee Stadium was built.

We reported last week how the Mayor of Evesham's tartan ball on November 16 was to be held at the clubhouse despite at that time, it not having official permission to host such events.
