PEOPLE living in Evesham have said they want action to stop vandals who have damaged 40 cars this year.

The Hampton area of the town has been the scene of the problem for the past 12 months with many of the vehicles targeted having the letters ‘XF’ cut into the paint.

Sally and Anthony Taylor decided to have CCTV installed to the rear of their home to stop their car being damaged again.

“Our car was targeted last week,” said Sally. “It was on the driveway at the rear of the house. There were scratches to the bonnet. It is a cowardly act.

“We are sick and tired of it. The repairs cost us at least £200.

“It is a concern because there is someone wandering around with a knife.”

The main areas affected are along Pershore Road, Peewit Road, School Road, New Road and Alexandra Close.

Cy Garrett has had his work vehicle scratched and the soft top roof of his girlfriend’s Mazda has been slashed twice. “The cost of repairs on the Mazda would be about £1,900 each time. I am perplexed by the idiocy of this person,” he said.

Anyone who has any information or who has not yet reported vandalism to their car in Hampton should call the police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555111.
