CHILDREN from Fladbury CE First School have been contributing to a novel take on Christmas celebrations in the village.
Rather than the usual Christmas tree, this year St John’s Church for the first time has a ‘Chrismon tree’ – a variation on the traditional tree covered in a large number of ornaments called ‘Chrismons’, an ancient term meaning ‘symbols of Christ’.
Each week children from the school have been making Chrismons and helping to decorate the tree during a series of special services.
Today, children will be positioning an empty crib in the church in readiness for Christmas Day.
