A STRANGE seasonal donation received by an Evesham charity shop at the start of the festive season has created a new Christmas tradition.

Cash4Clothes in Broadway Road, Evesham, is used to receiving clothing, books and electrical goods but at the beginning of December a bag of items revealed an almost complete knitted Nativity scene now taking pride of place on the shop counter.

Rob Thomas, manager of the shop, which sorts the donations and distributes them to Africa and Eastern Europe, said it had become quite a talking point.

“We were really surprised someone had given it away.

People are noticing it as they come in and commenting on it. It is a real focal point in the shop.

This is our first Christmas here and this will be a tradition for us in the shop.”

Despite the scene being in great condition Mr Thomas said it was missing an important part.

“It is missing a king. It would be great if someone in the local community would be willing and able to provide us with a third knitted king to complete our Nativity scene in time for Christmas.”

If anyone is able to help, call 01386 446539 or visit the shop at Unit 2, Broadway Road.
