Hunt for catalytic converter thieves
11:00am Saturday 26th January 2013 in News
THREE catalytic converters were stolen from vehicles in Evesham in a spate of thefts thought to have been carried out by the same group of thieves.
The metal thefts have cost the car owners hundreds of pounds each but scrap metal dealers in Worcestershire say the converters can be worth anything from as little as £4 up to £250.
The first theft took place in a car park in Forest Gate overnight from January 14 to 15 when thieves stripped a Fiat Scudo van.
Two thefts then took place overnight from January 15 to 16 in Isbourne Crescent and Fairfield Place, Evesham.
Another Fiat Scudo van was targeted in Fairfield Place while a Peugeot 306 had its catalytic converter taken while it was parked in a driveway. Police said there were signs the vehicle had been jacked up.
If anyone witnessed suspicious activity in these areas on the nights in question or has information about the incidents, they should contact the police on 101.
