Homes plan for showroom

A FORMER antiques showroom in Pershore is set to be knocked down after town councillors supported plans to replace it with eight new homes.

Proposals were submitted by Keen Building Contractors to demolish the former SW Antiques showroom in Newlands in late December.

Pershore town councillors have supported the application for the eight two-storey houses each with off-road parking.

A concern was raised by Coun Chris Parsons that the site may be contaminated after former usage as a petrol station.

SW Antiques closed in March last year after 30 years of trading to enable the owners to concentrate on their family and an online business.

The town council voted to support the application provided the site was checked for contamination.

A date has yet to be decided when the plans will be considered by Wychavon.
