What a carry on!

WINNER: The sign outside the Black Horse in Iver Heath WINNER: The sign outside the Black Horse in Iver Heath

A HAND-painted sign of a Carry On film star which was created by a Cotswold company has won an award.

Rob Rowland, of Creative Signs, in Chipping Norton, painted the sign for the Black Horse in Iver Heath, Buckinghamshire, which won the Inn Sign Society’s Sign of the Year Award for 2012.

The sign shows the late Sid James as Dick Turpin in his 19th and final Carry On film, Carry on Dick.

Judges praised the sign’s new take on an old name, local distinctiveness and decorative frame appeal.
