Meal helps feed hedgehogs

AN event has raised enough money to feed 10 hedgehogs for a week at a Vale wildlife hospital.

A charity meal hosted by the Vegan Three Counties group on Sunday, January 20, raised £100, enough to feed 10 hedgehogs at the Vale Wildlife Hospital in Beckford, as well as another 10 at Malvern Hedgehog Hospital.

This winter so far has seen a huge increase in hedgehogs in rescue centres across the country, with the Vale Wildlife Hospital, the largest local centre, seeing a 70 per cent increase in hedgehogs in its care compared with last year.

A number of copies of The Natural Hedgehog, written by Worcestershire author Lenni Sykes, were signed by actress Virginia McKenna, and other celebrity-signed items such as a guitar autographed by Brian May have also been received by the hospital and will be auctioned of to raise funds.
